Takeaway Strategies:
Timeline and toolbox activities would be helpful
Make a personal statement
UC Video was helpful, demystifies the process--important to understand audience for statement of purpose (good for kids to watch as well)
Picking apart the personal statement model was helpful
Engagement with lighthouse picture (maybe freewrite with it)

Suggestions:
Station activity--give time to move from one to the next
See model of good final draft--that would be helpful
Difficult to figure out what role we are playing (make clear that we should be writing as ourselves, not as our children)
Give clear directions about what to do at stations (are we supposed to read out loud, write, discuss?)
Make station prompts more clear, narrowed
Make sure that everyone's logged on, more instruction about how to use wiki
More hands on, more "doing" for participants--more student-centered learning
Student sample--be more explicit about what to do with it (things he did well, things to be improved)

Questions:
Who is the intended audience? Are the parents helping their kids write the personal statement? What is the purpose of the lesson?
